The Graph Options form is used to specify axis and graph formats settings as well as general program settings; series format settings are set using the Manage Series form or Graph Form Property Grid. The axis and graph format settings only apply to the currently selected tab (except as noted below).
Notice how the form uses a property grid in which the item name is shown in the first column, item value in the second, and description at the bottom. You can specify settings for the bottom X axis and up to 5 each of left and right Y axes. Note that many graph options can be quickly set by right- or double-clicking on selected items on the graph form.
The Graph Format tab is used to specify overall graph format settings, such as background color and legend format. Again, a description of each property is provided at the bottom of the form, so it will not be repeated here.
The last tab is where you select your program preferences:
Automatically reload previous graph on startup: if checked, Graph will automatically reload the graph you were last editing.
Expert mode is utilized to reduce number of prompts: if checked, you are indicating that you are an expert and most of WRDB's comfirmation dialogs will be bypassed.
Confirm referenced tables every time a .graph file is opened: if checked, every time you open a graph settings file (.graph) you will be prompted to confirm (or change) the tables that are referenced by that file. Otherwise, you can explicitly redefine tables by selecting File | New and then the .graph file your wish to use as a template or you can select File | Open and select the file type of 'Graph Settings Files--Confirm Tables'. See also Graph File Format.
Set as Default: when first installed, Graph uses a predefined set of formats for the graph and series. This button allows you to override these program defaults and save the current graph settings as defaults for all new graphs and graph tabs. For example, if you change the background color of the current graph tab to blue, only that tab changes. New tabs you create will normally continue to use the program default standard pale yellow background. However, if you click this button, the following dialog will appear:
If you click anything but Cancel, all new graphs will use the settings specified (i.e., have a blue background). However, not that this will only affect new graphs; all other tabs that already exist will not be given the new color. (FYI, default settings are contained in the specially named file Defaults.graph in the Application Data folder).
Global operations on all tabs can be performed by checking the option View | Tabs | Apply to All Tabs (see Graph Tabs). When this is done, subsequent changes to Graph Format options will be applied to all tabs (after you confirm that's what you want to do).
Reset: click this button to reset axis and graph format settings back to either user defaults (those set the last time you clicked Set as Default) or program defaults (settings in effect when you first install WRDB).
